Nottingham Trent University Overview Nottingham Trent University (NTU) is a university in Nottingham, England. It was founded as Trent Polytechnic (later Nottingham Polytechnic) in 1970 before gaining university status in 1992. Its roots can be traced to around 1945 (however some of its origins can be loosely associated with the founding of University College Nottingham, now the University of Nottingham). It is one of the largest universities in the United Kingdom, serving more than 24, 000 students. Location & Facilities Nottingham Trent University has three campuses: 1. City Campus Located just north of Nottingham City Centre, the city campus offers subjects such as Law, Social Sciences and Art & Design. The campus is currently undergoing an ambitious £70 million development, which will see two of the University's largest and oldest owned buildings. 2. Clifton Campus Situated at Clifton, around four miles from Nottingham, the Clifton Campus is home to the University's Schools of Arts and Humanities, Education, and Science and Technology. It also hosts an Anthony Nolan Trust Cord Blood Bank, and the newly operational John van Geest Cancer Research Centre, recipient of the largest research grant awarded to a post-1992 university. 3. Brackenhurst Campus Home to the School of Animal, Rural and Environmental Sciences, Brackenhurst is approx 14 miles from Nottingham. It is a countryside 200 hectare estate with woodland, a lake and landscaped gardens. It is home to a glasshouse, equestrian centre, Veterinary Nursing building and also has its own dairy farm and licensed bar. Brackenhurst has many facilities to offer to students, these include the Animal Unit, Environment Centre, Equestrian Centre, Glasshouse Complex, Farm, Veterinary Nursing Centre and laboratories. Glasgow Caledonian University Overview Glasgow Caledonian University offers a stimulating, vibrant and accessible environment for learning, teaching and applied research. There are more than 17000 students in total. They provide a high-quality education and valuable employability skills. It is Scotland’s fourth largest university in terms of student recruitment. They have over 90 undergraduate, 40 postgraduate programmers and a large number of students engaged in research for PhDs in topics that put them at the forefront of their disciplines. their students come from over 90 countries throughout the world, enriching campus and making Glasgow Caledonian a truly cosmopolitan environment in which to study. Glassglow Caledonian University are proud of their growing reputation as a provider of high quality research, consultancy and training services to local, national and international businesses. recent work includes collaborations with organizations such as Microsoft, Bovis Lend Lease (Scotland), CISCO Systems and Scottish Enterprise in the development of programmers, facilities and research capacity. Location & Facilities Glasgow Caledonian University’s single-site campus sits in the centre of Glasgow, with easy access to all air, rail and road links. Quick access to Edinburgh and Glasgow Airport. Easy walking distance of and Glasgow Central railway stations, Buchanan Bus Station, and the underground rail system. Our second building, Hannah House, is located just off Baker Street, (the famous home of Sherlock Holmes!) and close by Madame Tussaud's museum. It is just eight minutes walk from our main building and five minutes from Baker Street 'tube' station Happiness is the key to success and the College welfare team work hard to ensure that students are comfortably accommodated and well looked after. Many international students do not have friends or relatives with whom they can stay whilst they are studying in London and so it is important that the College is able to provide comfortable and reasonably priced hostel accommodation within easy travelling range of the campus. The College welfare team devote much of their time to the care of overseas students who have recently arrived in London and are still finding their feet. It might mean helping a student to register with a doctor (overseas students are entitled to health care under the National Health Service), or finding an ethnic restaurant or a place of worship. Also, there will be times when a student needs official documents, to extend a student visa for example, or open a bank account. If this is the case the welfare team will happily help.
